Once we meet, we will shove off to one of my secret fishing spots in search of fish to put in the cooler. Once we've caught enough for the cooler we can set out for some fun fishing. I like to target Red drum and Rockfish as they pull like a freight train. If youre not interested in keeping fish we will move around and see just how many species we can catch!

The Ultimate Coastal Tradition

Captain Andy Ennis, the owner and operator of Old North State Fishing, grew up with the salt spray of the Outer Banks in his veins. His transition from a lifelong angler to a professional guide was fueled by a genuine respect for the North Carolina coast and a desire to share its hidden gems with others. Over the years, Andy has developed a sharp intuition for these shifting tides and seasons, allowing him to track local species with remarkable precision. For Andy, being a guide isn't just about finding fish; it's about being a reliable steward of the water who ensures every person on his boat feels confident and capable. When you step onto the deck with Captain Andy, you are learning from a mentor who values patience as much as a tight line. He understands that every angler brings a different level of experience, which is why he tailors his approach to match your specific needs. Whether he is teaching a child how to cast for the first time or discussing advanced technical maneuvers with a veteran fisherman, his calm demeanor and clear communication create a relaxed, focused environment. This personalized attention ensures that you don't just spend time on the water, but truly understand the mechanics of a successful day of fishing. Beyond his technical expertise, Captain Andy is deeply committed to the heritage of the Outer Banks. He views every day on the sound or the sea as an opportunity to foster a deeper connection to the outdoors. His goal is for every guest to leave the dock with more than just a catch; he wants them to carry away a better understanding of the local ecosystem and the satisfaction of a day well spent. By prioritizing safety, preparation, and a friendly atmosphere, Andy has built a reputation as a trusted local expert who treats every guest like a fellow North Carolina local.
The Old North State Fishing Fleet
To provide the most versatile experience possible, Captain Andy operates two meticulously maintained vessels, each suited for the unique demands of the Outer Banks. Groups of up to four can enjoy the nimble 20-foot Hydrasports, powered by a 175 HP Suzuki engine that reaches speeds of up to 35 mph—perfect for quickly reaching active spots with a focused, intimate feel. For larger parties or families, the 26-foot Mako offers a stable and spacious platform for up to six guests, driven by a reliable 250 HP Yamaha engine. Both boats are outfitted with high-quality gear and modern safety equipment, reflecting Andy’s high standards for maintenance and his dedication to providing a professional, comfortable environment for all his guests.
